Live from CES...

What better time to launch a consultancy than during the Consumer Electronics Show? Each January, CES is the answer to our post-holiday blues--a veritable orgy of all things CE.  More TVs, more gadgets, more everything, traversing the spectrum from utility, through geeklust, and straight onto idiocy. Does the world need a beer cooler that holds a six-pack and roams around the room, looking for its next customer? No, that's idiocy. If it held a case rather than a six-pack, that'd be utility.
After more than 20 years in the technology world, I realize I'll never have all the answers. However, I'd like to think that I'll come up with questions that're more meaningful and tax the brain more than most, leading to insights which will provide valuable answers.

All too often, those of us who live in Silicon Valley tend to spend our lives thinking only about layers 1-7 on the OSI reference model. Professionally, my goal is to help my clients to stop thinking that low. Great technology can breed success--sometimes because of, sometimes in spite of. However, too few organizations think about layers 8 and 9 on the OSI model. Religion and politics are just as important to a product's success as layers 1-7...maybe more so. My extensive work with both industry standards organizations and Pentagon policy makers has reinforced the value of layers 8 and 9. Taking due care to incorporate layers 1-9 on a launch strategy pays great dividends along the way.

I invite you to join me on this journey. In launching my own business, I expect to learn a lot more about myself, more about more markets and more industries, and more about you and your business. Hopefully, we'll figure out a way to do some work together. The answers are out there. Let's go find them together.

In coming weeks and months, you'll see new services roll out from heyCoop. Check back often, or tune in via RSS...
